4 ways the Cognitives Platform and AAP Publish helps digital publications with revenue

One of the many positives about moving from print to digital (or simply adding to it) is the different stream of revenues available. All digital publications created with Cognitives and AAP Publish will be able to access advertising and subscription models immediately.

Here's 4 ways the Cognitives Platform and AAP Publish helps digital publications with revenue.

1. Subscription Revenue

More and more publications are adding subscriptions to their services. It's a great way to provide readers the ability to engage with news without being bothered by ads.

Paid newspapers can lock down their content and drive new subscription revenues using the platform's built in pay meter. This might be a bundled offer for the print version combined with unlimited website access.

For people outside of their local readership area, like ex-pats who have moved away, publishers may decide to create a digital only online package.

Free newspapers may decide to reverse their publishing strategy online and while they deliver a free paper, charge for unlimited online access.

2. National Advertising Revenue

The advertising inventory is already built into the website and conforms to IAB standards so that newspapers national advertising representatives can be confident in selling their online advertising to State and Federal Government, as well as all the other national brands.

3. Programmatic Advertising Revenue

"What is Programmatic Advertising", you ask?

"Programmatic media buying, marketing and advertising is the algorithmic purchase and sale of advertising space in real time. During this process, software is used to automate the buying, placement, and optimisation of media inventory via a bidding system. Automating the process means that it can be done in real time and doesn’t rely on the human touch, manual insertions and manual trading." State of Digital

All websites will be able to accept programmatic advertising as soon as it’s launched, another potential source of income.

4. Local Advertising Revenue

The Events module will allow Publishers to charge a nominal fee, say $30 per year per event, to promote a local event on their events section. Regional towns have hundreds of events a year. Even two per week equates to $3,000 per year.

Publishers can add the Real Estate and Auto modules to charge local advertisers in their markets a nominal fee of $50 per week per post. Based on three auto spots, and three real estate spots, publishers have the ability to generate $15,000 in new annualised revenue. If they sell more than three, more spots can be added to the template.

Newspapers can engage their community and supplement their own stories on the website with contributed content using the Social and Contributed photo modules. This, along with the AAP content, will allow them to protect their own local content but have enough free content to make sure they have the traffic to be able to sell advertising to local advertisers.

The most successful regional Publishers are taking a total audience plan to market and bundling a print/digital package to get a greater share of wallet and better results for their advertisers.

As part of the bespoke digital publishing packages offered by Cognitives and AAP Publish, AAP Publish can help create advertising collateral that Publishers can use in market by dropping in their own logo, contact details and advertising rates/packages.

The Small and Regional Publishers Innovation Fund helps Publishers transition to digital and adopt new ways to monetise their publications. Applications close on the 27th July 2018, if you wish to apply for one of the Cognitives & AAP Publish bespoke digital publishing packages then simply request a proposal to get started.
